Consuelo Sanchez is a seasoned leader in sports tourism with nearly a decade of experience at Florida’s Sports Coast (FSC)—formerly Visit Pasco. Since joining the organization in 2015, she has been instrumental in transforming the region into a premier destination for sports events. Her rapid career progression is a testament to her impact, beginning as a key contributor to the development of the sports tourism sector and later being promoted to Sports Development & Tourism Manager in 2017. By 2022, her exceptional performance and leadership earned her the role of Tourism Deputy Director, solidifying her position as a strategic figure in Pasco County’s tourism success.

Consuelo’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. In 2023, she was recognized as the Pasco County Public Services Branch Star Leader of the Year, and in 2024, she was honored as the Florida Professional of the Year for Sports Tourism, the Compete Sports Diversity Person of the Year in the U.S., and the International Person of the Year in the Tampa Bay region—a set of prestigious awards that reflect her dedication to advancing sports diversity and her significant influence on the regional and national tourism landscapes.

Throughout her tenure, Consuelo has played a crucial role in overseeing strategic initiatives for the Destination Management Organization (DMO), working closely with the Tourist Development Council and the Board of County Commissioners to achieve key objectives. She was also instrumental in building the FSC brand identity, raising the region’s profile through her strategic vision and collaborative approach.

With a solid academic foundation in Business Administration from Colombia, Consuelo has further specialized her expertise through certifications in Sports Tourism Strategy, Hospitality & Tourism Management, and Post-Crisis Leadership. In 2023, she added to her credentials by becoming a Certified Autism Travel Professional, demonstrating her commitment to making tourism inclusive and accessible for all.

Her strong presence at industry trade shows and conferences over the past eight years has helped establish and nurture relationships with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and event planners, securing major events that have propelled Pasco County’s reputation as a top sports tourism destination. By working closely with hospitality partners, she ensures that every event hosted in the area delivers an outstanding experience for planners and participants alike.

Originally from Colombia, Consuelo moved to the U.S. a decade ago, bringing with her over 20 years of experience in project management and business development. Her extensive expertise has been pivotal in attracting and securing high-profile national and international events for Pasco County, strengthening its position as a leader in sports tourism.

Beyond her professional achievements, Consuelo is deeply family-oriented. She is a devoted wife to Kevin and a loving mother to three daughters—Natalia, Allison, and Juliana. Although her eldest daughter Natalia is no longer with them, her spirit continues to guide and inspire Consuelo in all her endeavors. The love and resilience of her family, especially Allison and Juliana, drive her to honor Natalia’s memory and leave a lasting legacy through her work and personal mission.
