Position: Director for Asia and Oceania, International Volleyball Federation (FIVB)
Luis Alexandre has been the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Director for Asia and Oceania since October 2017.
Prior to moving into sports administration, Luis Alexandre was an international volleyball player for 15 years (1979-1994). He represented the Brazilian national team from 1986-89 during which time he won a bronze medal at the 1987 Indianapolis Pan American Games.
After finishing his playing career in 1994, Luis Alexandre joined Nike as a Sports Marketing Manager. Before taking on senior marketing roles at Brazilian football clubs Cruzerio EC and Atlético Mineiro.
From 2001-2006, Luis Alexandre worked for Brazilian Sports Marketing Agency Octagon-Koch Tavares, where he was head of the Beach Events Department, covering beach volleyball and beach soccer.
In 2005 and 2006 Luis Alexandre served as FIFA Operations Director for the 2005 and 2006 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Brazil, in 2006 as well, he was appointed as General Coordinator for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany (Hannover) and 2006 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan (Toyota & Yokohama).
In 2007, Luis Alexandre returned to Nike as the Sports Marketing Director for Brazil. He stayed in the role until 2016. After leaving Nike, Luis Alexandre opened his own sports marketing company, LA Sports Marketing Consulting, at the start of 2017. The company has enjoyed a successful start, working with clients such as Nike, the Ronaldo Academy and the Neymar Academy.
Luis Alexandre completed a Sports Management course at University Trevisan in São Paulo in 2003 and a FIFA Sports Management course in Brazil in 2006.
