Position: Head of Innovation, Sports Innovation Lab
Abe Stein is a business development, marketing and communications professional with over a decade of experience in digital media, video, audio, and games. As the Head of Innovation at Sports Innovation Lab, a sports market research and technology company seeking to generate positive evolution in the industry, Abe helps develop qualitative data tools and new marketing platforms. Combining his interests in sports, media, and design, Abe also serves as a researcher at MIT’s Game Lab. He is a fierce believer in using the power of sport to foster social justice and leverages his platform as an innovator and educator to lift people up.
Abe graduated from Haverford College with a degree in Religion, then went on to complete his master’s degree in Comparative Media Studies at MIT. He has been involved in brokering large-scale deals and partnerships, and in managing young startup teams with developing digital strategies from the top to the bottom of the funnel. As a designer, researcher, and skilled writer, he focuses on the convergence of different sports media platforms. Throughout Abe’s career, he’s enjoyed the opportunity to manage and direct digital media production teams, and has worked in television, film, and video games. He also does consultative work helping the burgeoning esports industry grow, applying knowledge he’s gleaned from studying the historical development of the traditional sports media industry. Abe also seeks to spread his passion and expertise in the industry by teaching classes at Boston College in his free time.
