Position: CGF Director of Games and Assurance, Commonwealth Sport
Darren joined Commonwealth Sport in January 2015 and prior to his recent role as Director of Games and Assurance was previously the Chief Operating Officer.
Within his various roles within Commonwealth Sport Darren has provided support to Host and potential Bidding cities as required, including close liaison with key Organising Committee and Government liaison across the three most recent Commonwealth Games.
Following on from being a member of historic Coordination Commissions (CoCom) for GC2018 and B2022, Darren led the assurance and CoCom for Victoria 2026 on behalf of the Commonwealth Sport, and has been involved over the last decade in various bid evaluations.
Over many years Darren led the CGF Corporate Services Team supporting the Audit and Risk Committee in ensuring sustainability and strong reserves are created, maintained and managed efficiently - whilst continuously working with key stakeholders in these areas.
Prior to working with the Commonwealth Sport Darren worked in various Commercial and Managerial roles within the Finance Sector within a broad spectrum of both large Listed, and unlisted, companies within the UK and internationally. This culminated in Darren working for four years at the Organising Committee for Glasgow 2014 in the role of General Manager - Financial Planning. Over this period he worked closely with the Operational areas of the Organising Committee (particularly Games Time Delivery) and successfully linked the Corporate Service and Operational areas of the OC.
Darren resides in the UK, and is a “son of the Commonwealth”, being both a UK and Australian citizen.
