Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) - Host City

The Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) is the United Kingdom Government’s expert body on the safety of sports grounds.  With nearly thirty years of regulatory experience in football in England and Wales and working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholder, the SGSA has been at the forefront of improved safety standards across football.

The SGSA are the authors of the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (“Green Guide”), the best practice guidance used across the world for the design and safe management of sports venues. The SGSA has provided consultancy services across the world, and across all sports, to help host cities, organising committees, sporting federations and individual venues address strategic and tactical safety issues and deliver safe major events.
