Position: Senior Sports Development Officer, Glasgow Life
David Bickley is a Senior Sports Development Officer responsible for managing the Club Coach and Volunteer team. This involves the strategic, operational and development planning for how clubs, community sports hubs, coaches and volunteers are supported across the city of Glasgow.
His work focuses on delivering outcomes through national, regional and local partnership-working, with the principal aim of ensuring the club, coach and volunteer development team build capacity within sport clubs, communities and organisations in order to increase the number of people that are physically active and take part in sport within their local community. Integral to this is the development of the volunteering and coach education programmes. Since joining Glasgow Life in 2008 David has also been responsible for the recruitment and management of volunteers at events that include 2012 Olympic Football, Davis Cup, Festival 2014 and Homeless World Cup and Go live at the Green 2018..
A graduate from Glyndwr University, David has previously worked for the Welsh Hockey Union, as well as a number of local authorities undertaking management roles with a particular focus on sports development and Community sport.
