Derek Wilson

Derek has worked on stadia and major events for over 25 years. He has worked on seven Premier League stadia as well as Croke Park, Le Havre, the new Perth Stadium and AFC Wimbledon.

He started working on major stadium concert overlays in the early 1990s which evolved into overlay and advice for major events including Sydney 2000, Turin 2006, London 2012, Delhi 2010, Sochi 2014, Glasgow 2014, Rugby World Cup 2015, European Games 2015.

Derek has been involved in bids for the FIFA World Cup 2018, European Championships 2020, Olympic and Paralympic bids for Rome 2020 and 2024, Boston 2024. He has also worked on 9 NFL Super Bowls.

Derek was the lead masterplanner for London’s 2012 Olympic Park and all venues for London’s 2012 Bid, before joining LOCOG as Head of Design and Overlay.

He is currently advising the Premier League and ECB on accessibility. He is a board member of the UK Sports Ground Safety Authority and the British Standards Institute’s sports facilities committee.
