Position: President, International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC)
Marco Maria Scolaris (born 1958) is the President and co-founder of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC), a professional photographer and climber.
As an active boulderer, Scolaris was involved in the climbing scene from the 1980s. He helped found the Federazione Arrampicata Sportiva Italiana (FASI) in 1988 and became an international judge. Together with Pascal Mouche he founded the UIAA Council for Competition Climbing.
After assuming prominent leadership positions in the Council, Scolaris assisted the creation of the independent IFSC, in 2007. He lead the successful bid to include Sportclimbing in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games.
