Michael Baird
Position: Strategic Advisor to the Commissioner for Greater China, State Government of Victoria, Australia
Michael Baird is the Strategic Advisor to the Commissioner for Victoria to Greater China. He was appointed to this position in March 2016. Prior to this role, Michael was the China Trade Manager in Trade Victoria in the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources and prior to that Trade Officer for China, Japan and South Korea in the same team.
Michael has spent close to five years living in China over the past decade, which includes working at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010 and the Beijing Australian Chamber of Commerce in Beijing in 2007.
He has studied Mandarin Chinese for two years at Beijing Normal University and is conversationally fluent.
Michael holds a degree in International Studies and a Masters of Business Administration, both from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University.
